happyseaurchin,

the 5th way? are you referring to the Lovingkindness (aka Focus on Positive)? if that's what you mean, then in my case, i don't incorporate that on a daily basis. at this time, i'm more interested in focusing on impermanence.

however, depending on the window of opportunity, i can always replace focus on impermanence with focus on positive (as i laid out in the above algorithm). that's why i love the Five Ways because it allows me to be very flexible with practice :)

[...] Today is day 90 of the Big Sit. I’m happy to report that I’ve completed the challenge, and then some. Geeky as I am, I even kept a log of it in my (hyper)stream. (See my #bigsit Twitter stream on Friendfeed.) As you can see in the stream I have two practice sessions daily. I practice in the morning and in the evening, 1.25 hours each session, for a total of 2.5 hours a day. Each practice session is a mix of sitting and lying down meditation. I’ve described the details of my meditation practice in my previous post, see Algorithmic Approach to Meditation. [...]

Hey thanks for this, I'm going to give it a try. I stumbled upon your blog through the post of Shinzen's video on Tricycle, which I enjoyed watching; so thanks for that too. Rather different from the Zen I am used to, yet strangely same :-)
